    Coronavirus (Covid-19): Service Updates

    Prescription Update

    If you are not set-up for GP online ordering please order your repeat prescriptions through the POD service:

    for less urgent precriptions please email:
    bswccg.podemergency@remove-this.nhs.net

    You will need to provide the name of your GP practice, your name, your date of birth, medicines required and the name/location of your usual pharmacy.  Your prescription will be ready for collection after one week.

    Update

    Due to the current Covid-19 (Coronavirus) situation, we are looking at ways to ensure we can continue treating patients as quickly and as effectively as possible, across all our services.

    With immediate effect, Abbey Meads Medical Centre is closing at 5:00pm each day (Monday to Friday). Penhill Surgery will be closed effective from Thursday 26 March 2020 and patients are being directed to Moredon Medical Centre.

    About our Appointments System

    All our surgeries have an "on the day booking" policy for ALL GP appointments and minor illness appointments with our nurses. Routine appointments for blood tests, blood pressure, smear tests, dressings etc. should / can be booked in advance. This can be done in person or via telephone.

    If you wish to see a specific healthcare professional please make this clear when they book an appointment.

    Remember a separate appointment must be made for each patient.

    Please note. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late for your appointment we will ask the clinician if it will be possible for you to be seen at the end of surgery (or before if it can be arranged), but we cannot guarantee this and it may be necessary to re-book.

    Nurse Practitioners

    Did you know? You can see our team of Nurse Practitioners for minor illnesses such as coughs, colds or sore throats. They will be able to provide you with advice and treatment, including a prescription if necessary, and they have same day appointments available. Our reception team will be able to advice you on the best person for you to see.

    Chaperones

    If you anticipate that you may require an examination by the Doctor and feel that you would like a chaperone to be present, please make reception aware at the time of booking your appointment so that this can be arranged. For further information please see our Chaperones policy.

    Cancelling an Appointment

    If you are unable to attend for your appointment please tell us in good time so that we are able to offer another patient the use of that appointment.

    You can use one of the following methods:

    1. Cancel Online using Systmonline:

    2. By Telephone:

    3. In Person: Call into your surgery and let the receptionist know in person.

    We can offer your appointment to someone else and therefore help to reduce waiting times.

    As part of our commitment to all our patients we monitor the efficient use of appointments. If a patient regularly fails to attend a booked appointment, the practice reserves the right to remove them and their family from the practice list.
